i’m back!
this new blog has been in the works for a while, mostly in my head, but thanks to dreary february that turns me into a hybernating machine it is finally here. i took these pictures back in october specifically to post here. that’s five months. humyeah. something definitely wrong there. but. but but but! i’m back! gosh i’m so freaking happy.

a year and a half ago i went to calgary for three weeks on a project and met some of the best people i’ve ever worked with. i had so much fun that at the end of it i didn’t want to come back to new york. there were five of us and on my first weekend we all piled into a car and drove up to banff where we hiked up mountains during the day and camped out at night. which is pretty much my idea of a perfect weekend. the single fuzz thread in this picture is a part of a bigger fuzz ball made of many of these all tangled and clumped together. there were hundreds of these in a field we passed on one of our hikes and i saved one as a souvenir.

last year when i was revamping my apartment and hanging out at home depot after work, mini cacti were supposed to be the last purchase that would signify the end of Project: Make Batcave Not Suck. but there was always more i wanted to do and then spring came and i just went outside which made the batcave not suck. i bought these over the holidays from ikea and i love them because they’re tiny and cute and they never die. just like cockroaches.

pancakes, persimmons and two types of jam. homemade weekend brunch. i am cooking more as i get older. preparing the nest some might say. doesn’t matter as long as i get to eat it.

melted rice cakes, a persimmon and a lifted calgarian jar glass of milk. i was on a persimmon kick for a while.

i busted the yolk in the eggs as i cracked it open onto the pan. the rest of the time was spent in salvage mode. mesclun salad, wheat toast, bonne mamam jams and fresh squeezed orange juice. for a while i couldn’t figure out how to squeeze the oranges so that it’d taste the way it did in vietnam. and then one day i figured it out: water it down.

i date myself on and off. spicy spaghetti, wheat bread, organic shredded parmesan and red wine. i need to learn to take pictures faster. by the time i ate this it was cold.
Of course we missed you! It was dark and rainy. Now, it’s Mr. Blue Sky!
i like the octopus art at the top.
wow, comments and cooking … rock on jayse … i see a definite brunch theme emerging
